im a cow in a creek baby give me eight reasons to go on, and i'll give you a friendly rendering of the rocks of soft pillows 2012 is upon us babe, the invisible fires! losef! crazy to be out there in the world without contact to anyone, and just the fairies, in a place like this, it seems everything fun and wholesome is in some way illegal, what a strange world, maybe when we change these simple things, much else will change, but it just shows how the people in power are, what kind of people our systems of election are attracting, i remember all travel, travel about and there was a rath which followed me and they all spoke and grew louder, perhaps i truly am a ghost, this house was made specifically for me, its a symbolic house, in a symbolic place.
makes you appreciate the simple things though, after all that happens, makes you appreciate how good life normally is, and what its really like out there, in unfamiliarity, for whatever reason, things have arranged themselves in this way around me, but at least im okay, it doesnt make much sense, but not too much honestly does.
i dont think its a lie or the truth, any of it, i just think, its thoughts, it represents the way it is, because everything is true i suppose, we are everything, dreams are everything, the real magic is all about dreams dreams are the basis of it all.
its too much to make sense of, it doesnt want to be made sense of, it just wants to be full raging, whole
the All, the Goddess, things are not what they seem!
so i guess in the end it all perfectly natural, all an expression of who i am, living by my own way, my life is my art, we're all under the sun, so many stars, in the sky
the art of passing time we try to make every moment the best we can through emotions, actions, through all kinds of crazy, almost pointless impulses, but they do have a point, they have a meaning, some of us are bound to be misunderstood, disbeliefed but all of it is still true, truth encompasses all,
when we clear our vision all of us are God, something truly amazing is happening, all of the time.

Ooooooeeeeeeoooooooo.
Ooooooeeeeeeoooooooo.
Ooooooooeeeeeoooooeeeeeeooooooo.
Empty baseball diamond skin,
scolded by a dry flappy twin.
How did it get there?
Dragged by a bear.
God wants his Office dvds back,
and there ain't no chance of catchin' any slack.
He phoned while you were out,
he's gonna turn you into a girl scout.
Pour some salt
if you want to survive the assault.
Unless it's your fault,
then you should halt!
You can count on a sexy snowpile
to go the extra mile.
Overrun by floosies
you better run to Suzie's.
So many questions,
not enough answersions.
Sailing on the sea.
Walking on the waves.
So what does it all mean?
I know.
I don't know.

Ring starts out with a new version of "Apply." It's bass heavy and features a rumbling tribal percussion section, providing a base for Masirow's beautiful harmonies. It's a good reworking of her one well-known song, and a good opener for the rest of the album, which hasn't been heard before this release. Thunderous beats are the backbone of the album, but it's the vocals that make this one special. CM's voice is incredible, and she can pull off everything from 'ooohh'ing to some primal vocal sounds that are weird enough to catch attention, but not too over the top. Her lyrics are quite simple but are a good match for her to sing. Versus and choruses aren't always clearly defined, but in a way that works well for this 'flowing' style of music. A wide range of instruments can be heard, such as steel drums, sitars, and some wind instruments. Glasser has struck a good balance between electronic sounds and live studio performances. The strength of the album lies in the mixture of sounds (both vocals, beats and instruments), and keeping things to a minimum to allow the songs to just unfold. I really like this sort of song structure, where a simple beat carries the song to it's end, like a wave in the ocean...
Overall, Glasser has made a surprisingly original sounding first album, filled with cool instruments, good beats, and beautiful vocals. It's very dream-like, but still down-to-earth enough to be good music.

There's been a lot of talk about different substances and how they affect dreaming. Of course, scientists don't really give a fuck about dreaming itself, they just want to hoard knowledge about the brain. So there isn't any real professional research on how certain substances affect the vividness or content of dreams. Fortunately, this sort of experiment isn't difficult, anyone can try it.
Following this article, I'm going to try a combination of 250mg pyridoxine supplement (AKA pure vitamin B6), a food that contains trytophan (in this case, cheddar cheese ) and 10mg sublingual melatonin. Together, B6 and trytophan will create serotonin, which can, at an increased level, make dreams more vivid. The melatonin sets off the sleep cycle, and causes you to wake up more quickly after the last REM cycle. This will make me sleep more soundly and improve my chances of remembering the dreams I have.
The Results:
I took 250mg of B6 and ate 3 slices of cheese 1 hour before going to sleep, and 10mg of melatonin about 10/15 minutes before going to sleep. I don't remember much except:
- Dreaming about what I did yesterday
- Being on a muddy riverbank with lots of dead trees, waiting for someone
- Sleeping on a couch with a girl
That's about it. I can't really say whether or not the B6 and trytophan made the dreams more vivid. I think my dream recall has been a bit lazy lately so I need to work on that a little more and then perhaps try the experiment again.

Few producers/composers are as prolific as Susumu Yokota. With over thirty albums released in the last eighteen years there is a sizable amount of distinct albums in his discography. Continuing further from his house and techno roots and deeper into serene ambient works, Symbol uses almost entirely orchestral samples making for an experience that crosses both genres and cultural barriers.
Many of the songs start with vocal aesthetics, ranging from harmonic chants to off beat Inuit sighs and highs, but the initial theme of each song rarely hold their footing. A song that starts with the sound of a classical Russian pianist with maniacal and mocking laughter strewn about will suddenly have industrial or steam punk sounding claps, which usually make for an interesting mix. Other times, not so much. The Plateau Which the Zephyr of Flora Occupies starts with ominous hums and whistles which build very western middle-ages images to compliment, but the inclusion of southern fiddling broke the vibe of the entire second half of the song. Another notefully painful moment is the Christmas movie cliche cascading piano intrusively making it's way into Traveler in the Wonderland, and otherwise excellent song.
An interesting part of this album that I find many overlook is the track titles. The titles strongly reflect the theme of the song and gives you a heads up of what's to come. Fairy Dance of Twinkle and Shadow sounds like it's straight out of A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Flaming Love and Destiny would fit perfectly as the theme for a lava temple in and Legend of Zelda game.
This album is excellent if ambient music is starting to all sound like blips to you and if you want to find something that breaks that mold. It's also great if you want to add a little culture to your Apple or other brand mp3 listening device, just play this one and in minutes you'll feel like you are riding across deserts on a camel while simultaneously being in Middle Earth while elves rehearse Under the Sea.

Holy Fuck's third album is without a doubt their best. I think there was some lineup changes. And they also took a more simplistic approach to their songs for this one. But it works extremely well. They can write amazing melodies and they know how to arrange instruments well. What I like about them is that they actually play all the instruments in their music, using a real drum set, real organ, etc. They get a little funky on this one, and they even expand to making some epic buildups. All in all, it's some good electronic music that gives you a very cool feeling when you listen to it. Best song: "Silva & Grimes"
Birthmark is really just Nate Kinsella, playing a bunch of instruments and writing amazing songs. This is only his second album, but I wish he would release more! Acoustic guitar is the main instrument here, as are some heavy drum beats. Nate likes to write atmospheric music, and it works well with his intense talent to play almost any instrument. Most of these songs are pretty long, averaging 5 minutes. They all seem to have layers and unfold as the song goes on. At first listen, it seems like Shaking Hands is all over the place, but when you really get into it, you notice how Nate knows how to make use of space between sounds just as effectively as he can make the sounds. Best song: "Separation"
Medications - "Completely Removed"
For Completely Removed, Medications lost one of their three members. They also changed up their sound a bit. It has the awesome math-rock guitars that you'd expect from a 2000's Dischord album. Even though there's only one guitarist, they layer his parts effectively, and made it work with sharing the drumming duties. This is the first album on which the bassist gets to sing, and his parts work well with the main vocalist's singing. The band also makes use of many more instruments than in their past work, like a horn section and keyboard parts. There's a good selection of rock songs and softer songs which evens it all out. Best song: "Long Day"

For their new album, Hammock used a lot more instruments in their music. Past albums were mostly guitar tones and string instruments layered on top of each other. But in Chasing After Shadows, they actually played their electric guitars, and also used acoustic guitars, more strings and even some percussion. Vocals are even added on a couple songs, very beautifully. This album is definitely best listened to with earbud headphones to get the full ambient effect. The only downside to this album is the length, more than an hour long. It's pretty substantial but worth it for the amazing sounds and the dreamy feeling it gives you. Best song: "Breathturn"
